Command & Perform is an immersive and minimalist performance between a musician and a performer, based on a simple yet provocative methodology. The musician randomly delivers a series of pre-written performance action scores to the performer using a live AI-generated voice. The performer must respond in real time, executing the commands as they are given.
Structure and Social Commentary
This structure reflects social hierarchies and satirizes the objectification of the human body under systems of control. Some commands are exaggerated, physically intense, absurd, or even punitive. At times, the AI voice offers sarcastic compliments, highlighting the cold absurdity of forced encouragement within rigid structures of obedience.
The Breaking Point
As the performance progresses, the accumulation of stress and contradiction causes the performer to fail. This failure becomes a rupture, a crack in the smooth exchange of command and execution, revealing the asymmetry between the one who gives orders and the one who must obey.
